The LinkedIn personal profile banner is a 1584x396 pixel background at 4:1, sitting behind the top of your profile. It is prime branding space for professionals: a place to reinforce your role, company, or value proposition before a recruiter or client reads your headline. Uploading at the exact size keeps it crisp and prevents stretching.
The layout overlap to respect is your circular profile photo, which sits on the lower-left and covers a chunk of the banner, along with your name and headline text that render on top toward the bottom. Those elements can obscure anything placed in the lower-left and bottom-center regions.
